Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance and operations

This guide explains how to connect Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (F&O) with Morescope in order to synchronise transactional accounting data for spend analysis and emissions modelling. Dynamics 365 Finance is legal-entity (company) driven. Correct setup of users, roles, and legal entities is required to ensure all relevant companies are shared with Morescope.

Overview

Morescope integrates with Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations using:

The integration is read-only and does not modify data in your Finance environment.

Prerequisites

Before starting, ensure you have:

Application Details (Provided by Morescope)

Morescope has already created the Azure App Registration used for the integration.

Step 1: Approve the Enterprise Application (Admin Consent)


A tenant administrator must approve the application in your Azure tenant!


1. Locate your Tenant ID
2. Grant consent

Open the following URL in a browser:

https://login.microsoftonline.com/{TENANT_ID}/adminconsent
?client_id=e594856f-df39-4ea5-95f1-01736ab148b8
&redirect_uri=https://www.morescope.com/


Replace {TENANT_ID} with your actual tenant ID.

After approval, you will be redirected to www.morescope.com.


3. Verify

In Azure Portal → Microsoft Entra ID → Enterprise applications

Confirm that Morescope Dynamics ERP Integration is listed.

Step 2: Create or Verify the Finance Service User

Dynamics 365 Finance requires a user that is linked to the Entra ID application.

System administration → Users → Users

Create or verify a service user (recommended):

Step 3: Assign Required Roles

Assign the following roles to the service user:

Step 4: Assign Legal Entities (Companies)

This step controls which companies are shared with Morescope!

System administration → Users → Users → Select dxadmin → Assign organizations

Step 5: Default Company (Company Field)

On the user form you will see a Company dropdown.

Best practice

Changing this value only affects which company is used by default if no company context is specified in API calls.

Data entities availability

Morescope uses standard Microsoft-provided BI entities (e.g. VendTransBiEntities) which are available by default in Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations environments. These entities do not require manual publishing.

Setup Connection inside Morescope Application

  1. Navigate to “Data” in the left side menu
  1. Click "Set up integration" under Microsoft Dynamics Finance & Operations
  2. Insert your Dynamics Finance & Operations company IDs you want to integrate and “Azure Tenant ID” (you can insert one or many separated by a comma)
  3. Click “Authenticate and activate integration”
  4. After clicking the button a check is made to see that the credentials given are correct. You should see a popup and the card saying “Authenticating credentials"

After the authentication is finished (usually takes about 30 seconds) you will see the card change to "Verified Credentials". You will also get a popup in the top right saying that the authentication was completed.

Congratulations. You are integrated!

If you do not see or do not know your Azure Tenant ID please ask your cloud administrator.
