Introducing Activity Capture: A new concept from Morescope in collaboration with Order Control. Activity Capture is an innovation in carbon accounting that automatically gathers activity data directly from your ERP system, categorizes it according to the GHG Protocol, and matches it with a relevant emission factor from certified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).

Why is this important?
Activity Capture is a breakthrough in automated data gathering, particularly for Scope 3. Our customers are already capturing up to 50% of their activity-based Scope 3 automatically. All it takes is adding product-level detail to invoices—a simple step that unlocks a major leap in automation.
Now, instead of wasting hours chasing down data from suppliers, you can simply require them to detail product lines in their invoices. With one tweak, you make gathering supplier data smarter, more efficient, and scalable for the future.

How does it work?
Morescope currently integrates with a number of ERP systems with more integrations in the works. Through these integrations we can extract information about your core activities, suppliers and invoices for further use in your carbon accounting, target setting, supplier engagement, and decarbonization.
Your invoices include many of the activity data points you need for your carbon accounting. Activity Capture automatically extracts this activity data right from your invoices. These include the most important data points in Scope 1 and 2, such as kWh electricity and liters of fuel. But the real game changer is that this also works for the most difficult data category in Scope 3, namely purchased goods and services. You are now able to extract detailed activity data on products, such as liters of paint or number of Macbooks, saving you countless hours digging through data and making it clearer where there’s an opportunity to reduce emissions.
When you know what you have purchased, and how much of it you have purchased, all you need is an emission factor for that product to give you a complete calculation of the carbon footprint. And where do you find the most valuable product emission factors? In the digitized databases of EPDs of course!
That is why we automatically read and match the activity data from your invoices with the correct EPD. And just like that, your activity-based carbon accounting is now automated.

Activity Capture is currently compatible with EHF/PEPPOL invoices, the dominant digital format for invoices. We are working on expanding this offering for other systems and invoice formats, so feel free to contact us and let us know which system you would like to see in this list.
